As the first high performance computing service platform open to the public in China, Shanghai Supercomputer Center has a mature service system to provide on-demand high performance computing services and industrial simulation consulting for scientific researchers and industrial users, which have catalyzed a large number of top scientific achievements in the fields of astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, materials, genes, etc., accelerated product development and innovation in the fields of automobile, aviation, steel, nuclear power, civil engineering, etc., and supported the service of weather forecasting, environmental monitoring and other public service.

Based on years of experience in the construction, management, operation, maintenance, service of computer cluster systems, Shanghai Supercomputer Center has developed a complete solution of cluster computing platform to help users build computer cluster, evaluate system performance, build operation and maintenance system, improve techniques, etc., which promote efficiently integrating high performance computing resources with R&D applications. Jointly carrying out a number of national and local high performance computing R&D projects with universities, research institutes and enterprises, Shanghai Supercomputer Center has accumulated a number of independent intellectual properties and technologies, which can be used to develop parallel computing software, build high performance computing service platforms, and provide remote visualizing solutions for different requirements and application scenarios, helping a better usage of high performance computing resources. At the same time, Shanghai Supercomputer Center is also actively expanding applications and services of new information technologies such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence.

Since Established on December 28.2000, Shanghai Supercomputer Center has provided 21 billion core – hours to scientists and engineers across the country .
