Overview

To enhance international exchange and cooperation in application on high performance computing, the Sino-Finnish International Workshop on High Performance Computing applied in Material Science & Nano-science, with its co-sponsors SSC and CSC, will be organized in Shanghai on February 5-6, 2007. Scientists and experts on both HPC and material science & nano-science will be invited.

HPC is one of the most important research methods in material science & nano-science. Computing capability of HPC is increasing at very fast speed. What has become a great challenge for scientists in computer, computation and material science & nano-science is how to make out efficient mathematical models, algorithm, and application software of these two fields working well with the HPC system to make full use of the computing capability

This workshop aims at promoting cross-disciplinary blending on HPC technology and application science through enhancing the communication and collaboration between Finnish and Chinese experts. In order to have a thorough communication, we have defined the following guidelines as follows:

1. The workshop will be held in two forms: presentation and discussion, and no call for paper or paper publication will be arranged.

2. This workshop is intended for experts and professionals, and the attendance is limited to 30 participants, preferring that every attendee prepare a presentation.

3. Most of the attendees will be invited by cosponsors; any other interested in the workshop should hand up the outline of his presentation, and wait for the feedback.

4. We use English as the working language, and no interpreter will be arranged.

5. There will be no conference fee, but attendees will need to cover travel and lodging expense. Lunch will be provided during the workshop time.
